Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig 21st September, 1983). 21 1982) is a well-known American actor. Most notably, she played Shannon Rutherford from ABC's Lost TV series and Kim Mills for the Taken Trilogy. After her parents divorced, they moved together with their mother in Los Angeles. While struggling financially she landed her first part as Rachel's Room's title character the web-based video show Rachel's Room in 2001. In 2002 she was nominated for an Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost in which she was the main actor for the first two seasons winning a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace wanted to focus on film following her role as Tom Welling's character, The Fog, in 2005. The actress was on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club (both 2007) and opposite Liam Neeson as Kim Mills in Taken in 2008. Taken 2 (2012), Taken 3 2014 and Taken 4 (2014) were her reprises of characters. Grace played Shannon's part as Shannon in Lost for two episodes, including the finale of the series. The year 2013 saw Grace appear in the episode Californianation of the 6th season. She portrays Faith as a groupie, as well as a model for the stars. Hank Moody is played by David Duchovny. She is a member of the Gyllenhaal Family, she is the daughter and elder sister to the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. When she was in her teens, she played small parts in the films of her father and she co-starred alongside her sister in Donnie Darko which is a cult classic. Her next appearance was in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind both in 2002 and Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal won critical praise for her performance as a lead character of Secretary (2002) which is an erotic romance drama drama as well as Sherrybaby (2006). In 2006, she was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award. The Dark Knight, which was released in 2008, following several highly successful films including World Trade Center (2006) which brought her greater recognition, was a huge success for Gyllenhaal. In 2009, she received a nomination as the Best Supporting Actress at the Academy Awards for her role of a single mother as she appeared in Crazy Heart. In the following years, she appeared in comedies and dramas: Nanny McPhee as well as the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011) and The Won't Back Down (2012). Apart from her character as a Secret Service agent, she also appeared on screen in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). Her most recent roles were as the main character in The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directing debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
